  • Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and a permanent resident of Assam.

APSC Class-I Home Guards Selection Process 2026

Stage Details
1. Written Examination Paper-I: General Ability & Intelligence Test – 200 marks, Objective (MCQ), questions in English; covers General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events, Indian Polity & Economy, History of India, Indian & World Geography.
2. Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Candidates qualified in written exam will undergo Physical Standards Test and PET as per prescribed norms.
3. Medical Standards Test Medical Standards Test as per Assam Home Guards Service Rules, 2020 for candidates qualified in PET; appeals allowed within 15 days to Appellate Authority.
4. Interview / Personality Test Candidates declared fit in Medical Test will be called for Interview/Personality Test of 50 marks; provisionally for those awaiting Review Medical Board outcome.
5. Final Merit List Prepared based on marks obtained in Written Examination (Paper-I & II) and Interview/Personality Test.

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per medical standards. Minimum distant vision must be 6/6 and 6/9 in both eyes without correction.

  • Applicants must apply online only through the APSC recruitment website: https://apscrecruitment.in.
  • New users have to complete One Time Registration (OTR) first by clicking on “Register Here” and providing basic details.
  • Use a valid and active email ID and mobile number for registration and future communication.
  • Log in with registered email/mobile number and password, then fill in all mandatory details in the online application form.
  • Upload required documents: proof of Date of Birth, educational qualification certificates and mark sheets, caste/category certificates, BPL/PwBD certificates (if applicable) in PDF format (max 4 MB, scanned at 200 dpi, legible).
  • Upload recent passport-size Photograph and Signature (50 KB–200 KB each, photo not older than 3 months).

  • In case of payment failure or pending status, use “Check Status” to verify with bank/GRAS; double debit, if any, will be auto-refunded by the bank within 5–7 working days.
