Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Vacancy Details
Vacancies for Agniveer (Apprentice) 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches are distributed across Engineering and Electrical streams. The exact number of trade-wise vacancies will be decided based on service requirement. Separate INET examinations will be conducted for Electrical and Engineering entries.
Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Post-wise Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfil all eligibility conditions as on the cut-off date. Only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible to apply. All qualifications must be from AICTE-recognised Polytechnic Institutes.

Note: There are no age relaxations for Ex-Servicemen status for Agniveer enrolment.
Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee
Note: Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates found to have registered multiple times will be rejected and debarred; fee reimbursement will not be carried out in such cases. In case of unsuccessful payment (money deducted but admit card not generated), wait 7 working days for automatic refund.
Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
Stage 1 – INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)
Separate INET exams will be conducted for Electrical and Engineering entries. INET 2/2026 will be conducted in August 2026 with SSC as Exam Partner.
Stage 2 – Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Qualifying in PFT is mandatory for selection. Candidates undergoing PFT do so at their own risk.
Stage 2 – Written Examination
Written exam is conducted only for candidates who qualify PFT. Two separate exams are conducted for Engineering and Electrical streams.
Stage 2 – Recruitment Medical Examination
Conducted for all candidates who qualify PFT. Candidates found medically unfit may appeal within 05 days at a designated Military Hospital allocated by the Indian Navy. Medical fitness certificates from hospitals other than designated Military Hospitals will not be considered. No second appeal is permissible.
Stage 3 – Pre-Enrolment Medical at INS Chilka
Pre-enrolment medical formalities of all selected candidates will be conducted at INS Chilka, Odisha. Induction is subject to qualifying in Pre-Enrolment Medical Examination. Candidates not qualifying will be rejected.

Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Emoluments / Pay Package
Total Seva Nidhi on completion of 4-year tenure: ₹10.04 Lakhs (Agniveer’s contribution + matching GoI contribution). Additional benefits include:
- Risk, hardship, dress and travel allowances
- Non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of ₹48 Lakh for the duration of engagement
- Death Compensation: One-time ex-gratia of ₹44 Lakh (attributable to service) in addition to insurance cover
- Disability Compensation: One-time ex-gratia of ₹44 / ₹25 / ₹15 Lakh based on 100% / 75% / 50% disability
- 30 days leave per year; sick leave as per medical advice
- Medical facilities at service hospitals and CSD provisions
- No gratuity or pensionary benefits applicable
How to Apply for Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026
Candidates must apply online only at https://joinindiannavy.gov.in. No other mode of application will be accepted. Applications can also be uploaded through Common Service Centres (CSC) across the country at a fee of ₹60 + GST (optional facility).
Steps to Apply Online:
- Visit https://joinindiannavy.gov.in → Click on “Register” → Register as AVR (Apprentice).
- After successful registration, click on “Login” → AVR (Apprentice) → INET 2/26 → Proceed to apply.
- Fill in all details carefully. Incorrect declaration of information identified at any stage will result in cancellation of candidature.
- Upload a recent passport-size colour photograph (taken not before May 2026), size 10 KB to 50 KB; front portrait in light background without head gear (except Sikhs). Date of photograph must be clearly written at the bottom.
- A live photograph will be captured through the webcam during application form filling.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹550/- + 18% GST online via net banking / Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI.
- Give state preference for allocation of INET exam centre. Choice of centre cannot be changed once selected or allotted by the Indian Navy.
- Candidates will be provided a post-closing correction window. An additional correction window will be activated post INET exam for 2 days.
Documents Required to be Scanned and Uploaded:
- Matriculation Certificate and Marksheet (proof of date of birth and educational qualification)
- Diploma Certificate and Consolidated Marksheet from AICTE-recognised Polytechnic Institute
- Domicile Certificate
- NCC ‘C’ Certificate (if applicable) – to be verified through DG NCC
- Sponsorship Certificate (if applicable) – to be verified through CABS
- Recent passport-size colour photograph (taken not before May 2026)
Documents to be Produced at INS Chilka at the time of Induction:
- All original certificates as submitted/uploaded during online application
- Self-attested copies of all certificates
- Original NCC ‘C’ Certificate / Sponsorship Certificate (if held)
- Police Verification Form duly verified by the Superintendent of Police of respective jurisdiction (from place of domicile or place of residence)
- Call-up letter / Admit Card

Call-up Letters cum Admit Card for Stage I – INET 2/2026 will be available for download from https://joinindiannavy.gov.in approximately one week before the online examination. No call-up letter will be sent by post. Only Electronic mode of communication will be used for contacting candidates.
Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 – Important Instructions
- Only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible. Agniveers cannot marry during their entire 4-year tenure; violation will result in dismissal from service.
- Agniveers are enrolled under the Navy Act 1957 for a period of 4 years. Indian Navy is not obliged to retain Agniveers beyond the engagement period.
- Up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers may be offered permanent enrolment in the Indian Navy as Sailors (Regular Cadre) / Artificers based on performance and organisational requirements. Selection for further enrolment is entirely at the discretion of the Indian Navy; Agniveers have no right to be selected.
- Agniveers will not be permitted to seek release at their own request prior to completion of the engagement period.
- Agniveers are not governed by Naval Pension Regulations/Rules and are not entitled to gratuity for the engagement period.
- Agniveers will not be eligible for Ex-Servicemen status.
- Candidates declaring incorrect domicile/gender and other details shall not be permitted to appear in the recruitment and their candidature will be cancelled.
- Candidates reporting 30 minutes after the reporting time for Stage I – INET shall not be allowed to appear in the examination.
- A candidate’s selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the merit list cannot claim admission for the next batch.
- Mobile phones or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the examination premises. Infringement will entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
- Candidates should not submit multiple applications. If more than one application is received, candidature will be cancelled.
- Minimum height standard is 157 cms. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms (inside of elbow to wrist) and on the reversed side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable.
- Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to medical examination.
- Visual Standards: Uncorrected Vision 6/12, 6/12 | Corrected Vision 6/6, 6/6 | Colour Perception: CP PASS.
- No enquiry will be entertained regarding this recruitment/enrolment after a period of six months post completion of the recruitment cycle for the respective batch.
