Sri Satya Sai District Anganwadi Worker & Helper Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of application. Only Women candidates who are local residents (permanent residents) of the village/ward where the AWC is located are eligible. Candidates awaiting results of final examinations need not apply.

Age limit for all posts is between 21 to 35 years as on 01-07-2026. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of Andhra Pradesh guidelines.

Selection Process

Selection will be done purely on merit through the following process:

• Step 1 – Document Submission: Candidates submit applications with all required documents at the ICDS Project office during the walk-in period (09-06-2026 to 18-06-2026).
• Step 2 – Document Verification: Applications are verified by the CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) at the project office. Candidates must also produce originals of all documents including TC/Study certificates, without which there will be no opportunity to submit them later.
• Step 3 – Merit List Preparation: Merit list is prepared based on marks obtained at the qualification level (10th class marks memo).
• Step 4 – Final Selection: Roster-point based selection; Collector, Sri Satya Sai District is the final authority. The vacancy details with final selection cannot be cancelled by the Collector.
• Interview: The CDPO will note whether the candidate is eligible or not eligible for the interview and affix the date, signature & seal.

Reservation for PwBD: Reservations for roster points from the registration point for persons with disabilities are exempted as per the rules. The categories of disability that are exempted under child welfare regulations include 6th (anemia and low weight), 31st (date and vinegar disabilities), and 86th (autism, mental disability, specific learning disability, mental illness, and multiple disabilities) roster points. Women with disabilities who are unable to perform home-visiting duties and do not have the ability to cook can also apply.

How to Apply for Anganwadi Recruitment 2026

Candidates shall apply offline only by walk-in. No postal applications or online applications are accepted. The application form can be downloaded from https://srisathyasai.ap.gov.in/ or collected from the ICDS Project office. Applications must be submitted at the concerned ICDS Project Office between 09-06-2026 and 18-06-2026 up to 5:00 PM only.

Applications must be submitted in the AWC (Anganwadi Centre) for which the vacancy exists, at the concerned ICDS Project Office. The application printed/written must have the photo affixed at the prescribed place with the candidate’s signature over it. Internet/recent photograph not older than one month must be used.

• Recent passport-size photograph affixed at the prescribed place on the application form with signature over it
• Proof of Local Residency – Nativity Certificate / Residence Certificate / Aadhaar Card (mandatory)
• Marks Memo of 10th Class (SSC) qualification – self-attested copy (mandatory for age and merit calculation)
• Caste Certificate (SC/ST/BC-A/BC-B/BC-C/BC-D/BC-E) – issued by Tahsildar, in the prescribed format (self-attested copy)
• Disability Certificate – issued by the concerned Welfare Department branch office (if applicable)
• Pre-School Training / Intermediate Board training / Creche & Pre-School Management Training / ICDS Worker certificate (if applicable, for additional weightage)
• Marriage Certificate / Spouse details (if applicable, as AWW must be married)

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Only Women candidates who are permanent local residents of the village/ward where the AWC is located are eligible. This is a mandatory condition, not merely preferred.
• Candidates applying for Anganwadi Worker (AWW) or Mini Anganwadi Worker posts must be married and have a permanent residence and marital home (husband’s village) in the same village/panchayat where the AWC exists.
• For Anganwadi Helper (AWH) posts under SC and ST reserved vacancies, only SC and ST candidates respectively are eligible to apply – no other category candidate can apply for these seats.
• AWW/AWH appointments are governed by Government of AP rules and G.O.MS No. 13 WCD&SC (PROGS) dated 26/06/19 – honorarium (not regular salary) is paid as per rules.
• Vacancy details notified at present are final; the Collector, Sri Satya Sai District alone has authority to modify or cancel vacancies under unforeseen circumstances.
• Applications without photograph, without signature over the photograph, or without required documents will be summarily rejected without any communication.
• Candidates must submit their AP Open School Society (APOSS) TC/study certificates along with their application – no opportunity will be given to produce them later during CDPO screening.
• If a candidate has a disability, the disability proof must be issued by the concerned Welfare Department branch office – self-declarations are not accepted.
• Caste and residence certificates for SC/ST/BC categories must be issued by the Tahsildar and not by any other authority.
• Candidates must confirm on the application that they agree to serve in the specific AWC location applied for – transfers are generally not applicable for Anganwadi posts.
• All details provided in the application and the gazzetted officer-verified documents carry full legal responsibility on the candidate.
• For vacancy centre-wise details (AWC name, Mandal, Project, Roster Category), candidates must refer to the official notification PDF and apply only for the AWC vacancy that matches their local residence.

Who Should NOT Apply

• Male candidates – this recruitment is strictly for women only.
• Women who are not permanent local residents of the specific village/ward where the AWC vacancy exists – residency is a mandatory condition.
• Unmarried candidates applying for Anganwadi Worker (AWW) posts – married status is required for AWW.
• Candidates who have not passed 10th class (SSC/Matriculation) from a recognized board – this is the minimum educational qualification.
• Candidates above 35 years of age as on 01-07-2026 (unless eligible for applicable age relaxation).
• SC category candidates applying for ST reserved AWC vacancies, and vice versa – category-specific vacancies are strictly for that category only.
• Candidates who cannot be present in person at the ICDS Project office for walk-in submission by 5:00 PM on 18-06-2026 – no postal or proxy applications are accepted.
• Candidates whose caste/residence/disability certificates are not issued by the competent authority (Tahsildar / Welfare Department) in the prescribed format.

Common Mistakes / What to Check Before Applying

• Not verifying your specific AWC vacancy number, Mandal name, and Roster Category in the official vacancy list before applying – applying to the wrong AWC or wrong project will lead to outright rejection.
• Submitting an application for an AWC that is in a different village from your actual residence – even if it is a nearby village, residency at the specific AWC location is mandatory.
• Missing the APOSS TC/study certificate at the time of walk-in submission – the CDPO will not provide a second chance to produce this document.
• Affixing a photograph that is older than one month or different from the one pasted on the application – all photos must be identical and recent.
• Not signing over the photograph on the application form – applications without signature over the photo are rejected.
• Producing caste certificates issued by an authority other than the Tahsildar – certificates issued by Mandal Revenue Officers or Gram Panchayat presidents are not valid.
• OBC (BC) candidates applying under OC/General category to appear to avoid reservation scrutiny – this leads to merit displacement and possible rejection on verification.
• Submitting Xerox copies of documents without self-attestation – all copies must be self-attested by the candidate.
• Candidates with disability not attaching the certificate from the Social Welfare Department – self-certification or hospital certificates are not acceptable.
