If Level 5/4 vacancies in a discipline remain unfilled due to unavailability of suitable candidates, they will be filled from Level 3/2 of the same discipline. Sportspersons meeting Level 5/4 norms but applying only for Level 3/2 will be considered solely at Level 3/2 and must submit an undertaking not to claim a higher pay level later based on pre-joining achievements.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Candidates must be minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years as on 01/01/2027. Only candidates born between 01/01/2002 and 01/01/2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. Candidates born on or before 31/12/2001 or on or after 02/01/2009 are not eligible. No age relaxation is available for any community.

All championships must be conducted under recognized International/National/State Sports Federations and recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). Only Senior National and Junior National Championships are considered — rural meets, festival meets, and similar tournaments are not counted. Sports performance is assessed only for events held on or after 01/04/2024. As per RBE 118/2025 dated 24/11/2025, certificates must be issued by NSFs recognized by MoYAS at the time of the championship.
Additional Discipline-Specific Norms
- Athletics (Men/Women): Gold medal in Open National Championships (Senior), Inter State Athletics Championships (Senior), or Asian Championships (Senior) may be considered for GP-2800/2400; medal-winning performance in National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships may be considered for GP-1900 (Level-2) posts.
- Cricket (Men): Level 5/4 requires India-A/India U-19 representation in 2 Test/ODI/T20 matches; Level 3/2 requires quarter-finalist status or participation in specified All India Inter-State/Inter-Zonal championships; Level-1 requires pre-quarter-finalist status in Senior/U-23/U-19 All India Inter State Championships.
- Hockey (Men): Participation in international tournaments of four or more nations, or semifinalist status in Senior National Championships, may be considered for GP-1900/2000 posts.

Selection Procedure
All eligible candidates are called for Document Verification (DV) and Trial. Only candidates securing 25 or more out of 40 marks in game skill, physical fitness, and coach’s observation during trial are assessed further; candidates declared UNFIT by the Trial Committee are not considered by the Recruitment Committee.

The offer of appointment is purely merit-based. If two sportspersons score equal marks, preference is given to the younger candidate.

Important Instructions
