Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has released two notifications for the Bihar Drug Control Laboratory, Health Department: Advertisement No. 26/2026 for 11 Technician (Bench Chemist) posts and Advertisement No. 25/2026 for 3 Assistant Bacteriologist posts, taking the combined vacancy count to 14. BTSC Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

A total of 13 vacancies have been announced for Technician (Bench Chemist) and Assistant Bacteriologist posts.

Horizontal reservation is applicable to both posts as per Bihar Government norms: 35% reservation for women (Bihar domicile only), reservation for persons with disabilities (PwD categories VH, HH, OH, MH – currently shown as 00 vacancies in each sub-category for both posts), and 2% horizontal reservation for grandchildren of freedom fighters (Bihar domicile, currently 00 vacancies for both posts). The number of vacancies may increase or decrease based on further requisitions received before the last date of application.

BTSC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification – Technician (Bench Chemist)

• D.Pharma or B.Pharma from a recognized university.
• Six (6) months of work experience in drug testing and analysis is mandatory for candidates from both academic qualification categories (D.Pharma as well as B.Pharma).

Educational Qualification – Assistant Bacteriologist

• M.D. in Microbiology, or
• M.Sc. in Microbiology, or
• M.Pharma
• from a recognized university.

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2026)

Additional age relaxation of 10 years is admissible to persons with disabilities as per General Administration Department resolution no. 962 dated 22.01.2021. Government servants with three years of continuous regular service get a 5-year age relaxation. Candidates working on contract in non-private laboratories in Bihar (including central/state government, municipal, panchayati raj, and defence laboratories) may get age relaxation equal to the duration of their contractual engagement, up to a maximum limit, calculated as on the 01.08.2026 cut-off. Only one type of age relaxation is admissible to any candidate.

BTSC Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

Payment must be made only in online mode through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI.  Bank charges applicable on the online payment mode will be levied separately by the bank in addition to the application fee. Fee once paid is non-refundable. Candidates applying for both posts must pay the fee separately for each application.

BTSC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection for both posts will be made on the basis of a Computer Based Test (CBT) and work experience, as per the following distribution:

• The written exam will consist of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 400 marks, in both Hindi and English.
• Exam duration: 2 hours.
• 4 marks awarded per correct answer; 1 mark deducted per wrong answer (negative marking applicable).
• The exam may be conducted in multiple shifts, with results prepared using a normalization process.
• Minimum qualifying marks: General category – 40%, BC – 36.5%, EBC – 34%, SC/ST/Women/PwD – 32%. Candidates residing outside Bihar (including women and PwD candidates) must secure the General category minimum of 40%.
• Candidates claiming work experience marks must have qualified the written exam; experience marks are added only after successful document verification.

• Mandatory work experience certificate related to drug testing and analysis (required for Technician Bench Chemist candidates only)

3. Register using a valid, personally accessible mobile number and email ID.
4. Fill in personal,  educational, and category-related details carefully and accurately.
5. Upload scanned copies of a recent passport-size photograph and all relevant certificates/mark sheets as per specifications.

7. Review all entries carefully, as corrections after final submission are not permitted.

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Reservation benefits will be given only to candidates who are permanent residents of Bihar; candidates from outside Bihar are not eligible for reservation benefits.
• Reservation category, once selected during application, cannot be changed after registration.
• Photographs must be recent (within 3 months), with a clear face and open eyes, plain white background, and without spectacles.
• Candidates must keep at least five extra copies of the uploaded photograph safely for future use.
• Only clear, properly scanned documents should be uploaded; blurred, unclear, dark, or unreadable documents may lead to disqualification at the document verification stage.
• The Commission will not be responsible for any loss due to internet or banking disruption; candidates should complete the process well before the last date.
• Candidates submitting fake/forged certificates will have their candidature cancelled at any stage, along with possible legal action.
• Candidates interested in both posts must submit two separate applications and pay the fee separately, since each is a distinct advertisement with distinct eligibility criteria.
