RRC Central Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026

Railway Recruitment Cell, Central Railway (RRC/CR) has invited online applications from eligible sportspersons who are citizens of India for filling 59 posts under the Open Advertisement Sports Quota for the year 2026-27. This includes 21 posts of Group ‘C’ (Level 5/4 and Level 3/2) and 38 Level-1 posts (erstwhile Group ‘D’). The posts are open to all candidates regardless of community, with no reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS. Only candidates who qualify in the Trials will be considered for further selection.

Central Railway Sports Quota Vacancy Details

Vacancies are distributed across three pay levels based on sports achievement standards. Candidates who meet higher eligibility norms (Level 5/4 or 3/2) may also apply for Level-1 posts.

Level 5/4 Posts (5 Vacancies)

Level 3/2 Posts (16 Vacancies)

Level-1 Posts (38 Vacancies)

If Level 5/4 vacancies in a discipline remain unfilled due to unavailability of suitable candidates, they will be filled from Level 3/2 of the same discipline. Sportspersons meeting Level 5/4 norms but applying only for Level 3/2 will be considered solely at Level 3/2 and must submit an undertaking not to claim a higher pay level later based on pre-joining achievements.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates must be minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years as on 01/01/2027. Only candidates born between 01/01/2002 and 01/01/2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible. Candidates born on or before 31/12/2001 or on or after 02/01/2009 are not eligible. No age relaxation is available for any community.

Educational Qualification

Candidates possessing higher qualifications must produce the graduation/post-graduation certificate at the time of Document Verification and Trial. Candidates appointed as Clerk-cum-Typist must acquire typing proficiency (30 wpm English or 25 wpm Hindi) within four years of appointment.

 Sports Achievement / Eligibility Norms

For Level 5/4 (any one of the following):

• Represented the country in Olympic Games (Senior Category)
• At least 3rd position in World Cup (Junior/Youth/Senior)
• At least 3rd position in World Championships (Junior/Senior)
• At least 3rd position in Asian Games (Senior)
• At least 3rd position in Commonwealth Games (Senior)
• At least 3rd position in Youth Olympics
• At least 3rd position in Champions Trophy (Hockey)

For Level 3/2 (any one of the following):

• Represented in World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, or Champions Trophy (Hockey)
• At least 3rd position in Commonwealth Championships (Junior/Senior)
• At least 3rd position in Asian Championships/Asia Cup (Junior/Senior)
• At least 3rd position in South Asian Federation Games (Senior)
• At least 3rd position in USIC (World Railways) Championships (Senior)
• At least 3rd position in World University Games
• At least 3rd position in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships
• At least 3rd position in National Games under the Indian Olympic Association
• At least 3rd position in All India Inter University Championship (Association of Indian Universities)
• 1st position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category)

For Level-1 (any one of the following):

• Represented the country in Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, South Asian Federation (SAF) Games, USIC (World Railways) Championships, or World University Games
• At least 3rd position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category)
• Represented a State or equivalent unit, with at least 8th position in Senior National Championships (except Marathon and Cross Country)
• At least 3rd position in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships

All championships must be conducted under recognized International/National/State Sports Federations and recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB). Only Senior National and Junior National Championships are considered — rural meets, festival meets, and similar tournaments are not counted. Sports performance is assessed only for events held on or after 01/04/2024. As per RBE 118/2025 dated 24/11/2025, certificates must be issued by NSFs recognized by MoYAS at the time of the championship.

Additional Discipline-Specific Norms

• Athletics (Men/Women): Gold medal in Open National Championships (Senior), Inter State Athletics Championships (Senior), or Asian Championships (Senior) may be considered for GP-2800/2400; medal-winning performance in National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships may be considered for GP-1900 (Level-2) posts.
• Cricket (Men): Level 5/4 requires India-A/India U-19 representation in 2 Test/ODI/T20 matches; Level 3/2 requires quarter-finalist status or participation in specified All India Inter-State/Inter-Zonal championships; Level-1 requires pre-quarter-finalist status in Senior/U-23/U-19 All India Inter State Championships.
• Hockey (Men): Participation in international tournaments of four or more nations, or semifinalist status in Senior National Championships, may be considered for GP-1900/2000 posts.

Selection Procedure

All eligible candidates are called for Document Verification (DV) and Trial. Only candidates securing 25 or more out of 40 marks in game skill, physical fitness, and coach’s observation during trial are assessed further; candidates declared UNFIT by the Trial Committee are not considered by the Recruitment Committee.

Marks Distribution

Minimum Qualifying Marks and Initial Pay

The offer of appointment is purely merit-based. If two sportspersons score equal marks, preference is given to the younger candidate.

Application Fee

Fee must be paid online via Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking as part of the application process; no edits are allowed after payment. Fee paid by ineligible candidates who still apply will not be refunded. Candidates applying for more than one game/event must submit separate applications with separate fees and attend all trials separately.

Fee Exemption Categories

• Minority candidates (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians/Parsis): must submit a self-declaration (Annexure-A) at the time of selection trials and later furnish a minority community declaration affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper.
• Economically Backward Classes (EBC): family income less than ₹50,000 per annum, with an income certificate (Annexure-B format) issued by an authorized officer (District Magistrate/Revenue Officer up to Tehsildar, sitting MP, or equivalent) produced at DV and Trial.

Documents to be Uploaded

• Scanned copy of minimum academic qualification mark sheet/certificate as prescribed for the applicable level
• Certificate proving recognized sports achievement held on or after 01/04/2024
• Proof of date of birth (SSC certificate, mark sheet, or school leaving certificate showing date of birth)
• Scanned caste certificate for SC/ST candidates, where fee exemption is claimed

How to Apply Online

1. Visit www.rrccr.com.
2. Log in to the RRC/CR website for the  Sports Quota recruitment application.
3. Fill personal details and bio-data carefully, including your 12-digit Aadhaar number (or 28-digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID if the card hasn’t been received yet; candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, and Assam may use Voter ID, passport, or driving licence number instead).
4. Ensure your name, father’s name, and date of birth exactly match your educational and sports certificates.
5. Upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the specified format.
6. Enter an active mobile number and valid email ID, and keep them active throughout the recruitment process.
7. Pay the application fee online through the integrated payment gateway.
8. Note your registration number and e-receipt for future reference.
9. Take a printout of the completed application to produce at the time of Selection Trial.

Candidates need not send printouts, certificates, or copies to RRC/CR by post. Multiple applications with different name, father’s name, community, photo, or qualification details for the same discipline will be summarily rejected. A single application cannot cover two or more events/games.

Reasons Applications May Be Rejected

• Missing or improperly formatted scanned signature or photograph
• Photograph with goggles, cap, or unclear/small/unrecognizable image
• Not possessing the prescribed educational or sports qualification on the date of application
• Over-age or under-age, or date of birth not filled/wrongly filled
• Candidate’s name figuring in the debarred list
• Multiple applications or varied details for the same post
• Application fee not paid or paid incorrectly
• Single application submitted for two or more events/games
• Any attempt to influence or canvass the Recruitment/Trial Committee

Important Instructions

• Original documents for date of birth, educational qualification, and sports achievement are mandatory at DV & Trial; certificates in languages other than English/Hindi require an attested translation.
• No TA/DA/accommodation is provided for selection trials; candidates must bring their own kit and four passport-size photographs and may need to stay 2-3 days at their own arrangement.
• Selected candidates may be posted anywhere on Central Railway and are liable for transfer as per service exigencies.
• Selected male candidates are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers Unit of Territorial Army.
• Selected candidates must submit a 5-year Service Bond and perform in their sport for a minimum of 5 years; performance is assessed during the first two years (probation), and unsatisfactory performance may lead to termination.
• Candidates already employed in PSU/Government organizations must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of trial.
• Candidates with pending or ongoing doping cases under NADA/WADA are liable for rejection or termination of candidature.
• The number of vacancies is provisional and may decrease or become nil; application fee will not be refunded if notified vacancies are cancelled.
