The Chhattisgarh Karamchari Chayan Mandal (CGSSB), formerly known as Vyapam, has released the exam notification for the Chhattisgarh State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026. Conducted under the Directorate of Higher  Education, CGSSB SET 2026 determines eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in Chhattisgarh. Online applications open on 23 July 2026, and the exam is provisionally scheduled for 4 October 2026. The notification instructs candidates to check the eligibility rules issued by the concerned department before applying, and states that merely submitting the online application or appearing in the exam does not automatically make a candidate eligible.

CGSSB SET 2026 Profile Registration

CGSSB requires all candidates to first complete a one-time Profile Registration on its portal. Once registered, candidates do not need to re-enter personal details every time they apply for a specific exam – this information is drawn automatically from the profile. Candidates are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information in their profile and application; CGSSB is not responsible for any incorrect information a candidate provides, and no certificates (caste, date of birth, local residency, educational qualification, disability, ex-serviceman status, etc.) are collected at the application stage.

• Upload a recent photograph with a light-coloured background, in JPG/JPEG format, sized between 50 KB and 100 KB.
• Upload a scanned signature separately, in JPG/JPEG format, sized between 50 KB and 100 KB.
• File names should be alphanumeric, with no spaces and no extra dots.

CGSSB SET 2026 Application Fee

As per the rules of the Government of Chhattisgarh, candidates who are local residents of Chhattisgarh and who actually appear in the exam will have their application fee refunded to the same bank account used for payment, after the exam result is declared.

How to Apply Online for CGSSB SET 2026?

1. Visit the official CGSSB website at https://cgssb.cgstate.gov.in.
2. Complete Profile Registration if you have not already done so, using the “Instructions to fill the FORM” guidance on the website.
3. Carefully verify all details in your Profile Registration, since the online application and final result are both generated from this information.
4. Fill in the SET 2026 application form using your registered profile.
5. Pay the applicable application fee online.
6. Click the “SUBMIT” button to finally submit your application. An application is not considered complete unless it has been submitted.
7. Download and take a printout of the successfully submitted application form and keep it safely.

Candidates get 3 days after the application closing date to correct any errors themselves. Any correction must be made in the Profile Registration for basic details, after which it will reflect automatically in the application. No corrections will be made by CGSSB at any stage, and results are prepared strictly based on the information filled in by the candidate.

CGSSB SET 2026 Admit Card

The admit card is expected to be uploaded on the CGSSB website around 7 days before the exam. Candidates can download it by logging into their profile. The admit card will not be sent by post. Documents Required for CGSSB SET 2026 Exam

• Printout of the complete admit card (printed on one side of each page only)
• Black or blue ballpoint pen
• Original photo ID proof – Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, or Aadhaar Card

Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre without an original photo ID proof.

CGSSB SET 2026 Exam Pattern

The SET consists of two papers, both containing only objective (multiple-choice) questions, and there is no negative marking in either paper.

• Paper I is compulsory for all candidates and is of a general nature, assessing teaching aptitude, research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.
• Paper II is based entirely on the subject chosen by the candidate, covering the complete syllabus of that subject.
• Each question in both papers carries 2 marks.

CGSSB SET 2026 Exam Day Guidelines

• Reach the exam centre at least 2 hours before the exam start time for identity verification and frisking.
• The main entry gate closes 30 minutes before the exam starts – 9:30 AM for Paper I and 1:30 PM for Paper II.
• Wear light-coloured, half-sleeve clothing. Black, dark blue, dark green, purple/maroon, and dark grey clothing is not allowed.
• Wear slippers as footwear; shoes are not allowed.
• Ear ornaments of any kind are not allowed.
• Candidates cannot leave the exam hall during the first 30 minutes or the last 30 minutes of the exam.
• Communication devices, electronic devices, electronic watches, purses, pouches, scarves, belts, and caps are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
• Candidates wearing religious or cultural attire must report to the exam centre earlier than the normal reporting time and undergo an additional security check for permission to wear it.

Non-compliance with these instructions can result in a candidate being denied entry to the exam. Use of unfair means during the exam will lead to strict action and cancellation of candidature.

CGSSB SET 2026 Qualifying Criteria and Result

As per the official notification, the top 6% of candidates who appear in both Paper I and Paper II, and who secure at least 40% aggregate marks (for General category candidates) or at least 35% aggregate marks (for SC, ST, OBC-Non Creamy Layer, PWD and Transgender candidates) across both papers combined, will be declared qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility, following the reservation policy of the Chhattisgarh Government. This qualifying criterion is stated to be final and binding. The result will be published on the official website, https://cgssb.cgstate.gov.in, where candidates can view and print it. As answer sheets are evaluated through an OMR machine, there is no provision for rechecking or re-evaluation.

CGSSB SET 2026 Answer Key and Objection Process

• Objections to the model answer key must be submitted online by logging in with the registration number (Profile ID) and date of birth.
• A fee of Rs. 50 per question is charged for raising an objection, payable only online.
• Objections sent by post, email, or submitted in person are not accepted.
• Each question must be objected to separately; combining multiple questions in a single objection will result in rejection.
• Supporting proof must be uploaded with the objection – a guide book is not accepted as valid proof. Objections without proof will be rejected.
• Objections are reviewed by subject experts, and their decision is final and binding. The final answer key is prepared based on this review, and no further objections are accepted once the final answer key is released with the result.

A question may be removed if its structure is found to be incorrect, if none of the given options is correct, if a difference between the Hindi and English versions of the question leads to different meanings so that no option is correct, or if a printing error prevents a correct answer from being obtained. For any question removed on these grounds, all candidates are given equal marks for that question as bonus marks. If subject experts determine that a question has more than one correct option, all such correct options are considered valid for evaluation.
