Selection for the post of Clerk will be based on (i) Online Written Examination – Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by (ii) Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) of qualifying nature, and (iii) checking of original testimonials/interaction. Final merit list will be prepared strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the Online Written Examination (CBT). In case of equal marks, the elder candidate in age will be ranked higher; if date of birth is also same, candidates will be placed alphabetically (A-Z). Qualifying marks: 33% in each subject separately; minimum 40% in aggregate of both subjects. There will be negative marking for wrong answers in MCQ – 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions not attempted receive no credit or discredit. English Composition (Subjective) will be evaluated only for candidates who score 33% or more in General Knowledge. Subjective part of English Composition must be typed on computer within the stipulated time. If the examination is held in multiple shifts, normalization of scores of the objective portion shall be carried out using the Standard Deviation Method. Marks for ranking = normalized marks (objective) + actual marks (subjective).
Stage 2 – Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) – Qualifying Nature
Marks of CPT will NOT be counted in determining final merit – it is purely qualifying. CPT has two parts. Part-I: Spread Sheet Test – 10 marks, 10 minutes duration; qualifying marks: 40% (4 or more marks). Part-II: Computer Typing Test in English – minimum 30 W.P.M. (Typing Speed = (Words Typed – Mistakes) ÷ 10). Part-II will be checked only for candidates who score 4 or more marks in Part-I. PwBD candidates with Both Arms Affected (BA) or those with physical limitation to type at the requisite speed (certified by CMO/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government healthcare institution) may apply for exemption from CPT within 15 days from declaration of CBT result.
Stage 3 – Checking of Original Testimonials / Interaction
Candidates who qualify both CBT and CPT will be called for checking of original documents/interaction as per numbers decided by the High Court, category-wise. Final Select List is prepared strictly on the basis of CBT merit.
Answer Key and Objections
After CBT, a provisional Answer Key will be published on www.sssc.gov.in. Candidates may raise objections at a nominal non-refundable fee of Rs. 25/- per objection. Cross-objections against proposed changes in the provisional answer key are also permitted. Objections/cross-objections must be supported by reasons and documentary proof; those received after stipulated time or through any medium other than the prescribed link will not be considered.
