Competition Level Analysis

With 454 posts across Punjab’s government health network, BFUHS Pharmacist Recruitment 2026 is one of the largest pharmacy recruitment drives in Punjab in recent years. General category has the highest allocation at 136 posts, while ESM/LDESM categories together account for 88 posts. The combination of written exam (90 marks) and experience marks (10 marks) means candidates with valid COVID-19 service experience under the Punjab Health Department gain a direct scoring advantage. The mandatory 50% Punjabi Language qualifying test is a key eliminator – candidates must prepare specifically for this component alongside the technical pharmacy exam. Minimum 33% in written exam is needed to even qualify for the merit list.

Who Should NOT Apply

  • Candidates who are not registered with Punjab Pharmacy Council under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, as on 1 July 2026
  • Candidates who do not hold a Diploma in Pharmacy, B.Pharm, or Pharm.D from a recognised institution

  • Candidates previously disqualified by any recruiting board/government body where the disqualification period is still active
  • Government employees with pending disciplinary proceedings who cannot obtain an NOC from their Head of Department

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Wrong category selection: This is irreversible – double-check your category (General/SC/BC/EWS/ESM etc.) before final submission
  • Not mentioning sub-category: Candidates must specify their sub-category vis-à-vis Caste in the online form as instructed
  • Applying without Punjab Pharmacy Council registration: Registration must be active and obtained before 1 July 2026
  • Ignoring the Punjabi Language test: Many candidates underestimate this mandatory qualifier – failing at 50% disqualifies you regardless of your written exam performance
  • Sports candidates without Gradation Certificate: The Sports Gradation Certificate must already be in hand as on the last date of application; no extra time is given
  • Not claiming COVID experience correctly: Experience benefit is only for candidates who worked for the same nature of post under Punjab Health/Medical Education departments during March 2020–June 2021 – mis-claiming it can lead to disqualification
