A total of 60 vacancies have been announced for the post of Management Trainee (Electrical), distributed across SC, ST, SEBC, and UR categories with horizontal reservation for Women (W). Additionally, backlog posts for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, and Sports Persons are over and above the 60 advertised posts. OPTCL Management Trainee (Electrical) Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions regarding GATE 2026 score,  educational qualification, and age as on the respective cut-off dates. Only candidates with a valid GATE 2026 score in the EE (Electrical Engineering) paper and Odia language proficiency are eligible to apply through the OPTCL website.

OPTCL Management Trainee (Electrical) Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit

Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years and maximum of 32 years as on 01-05-2026. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of Odisha guidelines. The prescribed age limits cannot be relaxed beyond notified provisions. SC, ST, and SEBC relaxation is applicable only for posts reserved for the respective category. PwBD candidates are eligible for cumulative age relaxation over and above category (SC/ST/SEBC) relaxation.

OPTCL Management Trainee (Electrical) Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee through online mode only (Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI). Online transaction charges shall be borne by the candidate. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance. OPTCL departmental candidates (regular employees only) are exempted from payment of fee.

OPTCL Management Trainee (Electrical) Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

Selection will be based on GATE 2026 score and Personal Interview. No separate written examination is conducted by OPTCL. Final appointment is subject to medical fitness and verification of antecedents.

Stage 1 – GATE 2026 Score-Based Shortlisting

Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for Personal Interview based on their GATE 2026 normalized marks (out of 100) in the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper. Only GATE 2026 score is valid; scores from prior years will not be accepted. Shortlisted candidates can download their interview call letter through the candidate login on the OPTCL website.

Stage 2 – Personal Interview and Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates will be required to get documents verified through the Digi Locker application as per the procedure intimated in the interview call letter. Candidates must produce valid original Photo ID, GATE 2026 Admit Card, and GATE 2026 Score Card at the time of interview. Government/PSU employees must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) failing which candidature will not be considered.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Final appointment is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit as per prescribed standards in the Pre-Employment Medical Examination. PwBD candidates must undergo verification by the authorized Medical Board on the date specified; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of candidature.

• Candidates who cannot prove Odia language proficiency through a recognized certificate (8th/Matriculation level Odia pass certificate or equivalent) – Odia fluency is mandatory and must be supported by documentary evidence.
• SEBC candidates who do not possess a valid SEBC certificate dated on or after 01-05-2025 – SEBC certificates issued after the last date of submission of online application (25-06-2026) will not be accepted, and such candidates will be treated as Unreserved (UR).
• Candidates working in State/Central Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies who cannot obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer – NOC is mandatory at the time of interview; absence results in rejection of candidature.
• PwBD candidates with less than 40% permanent disability – only those with 40% or more permanent benchmark disability are eligible for PwBD reservation/relaxation benefits.
• Candidates unwilling to execute a service bond of Rs. 3,00,000/- and commit to serve OPTCL for a minimum of three years after completion of training – the bond applies to all categories of selected candidates.
• Post-graduate degree holders or diploma holders who do not possess the required BE/B.Tech degree in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering – Section A & B of IE (India) in relevant discipline is acceptable only if the minimum marks condition is met.

Important Instructions for OPTCL Management Trainee (Electrical) Recruitment 2026 Candidates

• Selected candidates will be required to execute a service bond of Rs. 3,00,000/- (applicable for all categories) to successfully complete the training period and thereafter serve OPTCL for at least three years. The bond amount is payable if the candidate resigns or leaves service during the stipulated bond period for any reason whatsoever.
• During the 1-year training period, a stipend of Rs. 50,000/- per month will be paid. On successful completion, candidates will be absorbed as Assistant Manager (Electrical) in Pay Matrix Level EE-2 (Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500) with CTC of approximately Rs. 15 Lakhs per annum.
• If performance during training is found unsatisfactory, the training period will be extended for a further six months. If performance is still not satisfactory after the extension, the service will be terminated.
• After successful completion of training, candidates will be on probation for a further period of twelve months.
• Selected candidates are liable to be posted at any existing or future unit of OPTCL throughout Odisha and outside, as per organizational requirements.
• SC, ST, and SEBC concessions are admissible only to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and SEBC of Odisha State by birth.
• SEBC certificate must be the latest certificate (dated on or after 01-05-2025). SEBC certificates issued after 25-06-2026 will not be accepted.
• Candidates must correctly declare their name and date of birth as per High School Certificate / Birth Certificate. Date of birth as entered in the High School Certificate / Birth Certificate issued by the concerned authority will only be accepted.
• Candidature is provisional throughout the process and liable to be rejected or appointment terminated at any stage if any information is found false, misleading, or amounts to suppression of material facts.
