- Only local resident women of the concerned Gram Panchayat (for rural areas) or the concerned ward of the urban Anganwadi centre (for urban areas) are eligible to apply.
- A woman applying for an Anganwadi centre should be a local resident of the same Gram Panchayat as the revenue village to which that Anganwadi centre belongs.
- A widowed or divorced woman may be considered a local resident with reference to either her marital (sasural) home or her parental (maayka) home, as applicable.
- Both married and unmarried women are eligible to apply for the posts of Anganwadi Worker and Anganwadi Helper.
- If a selected woman marries and, as a result, is no longer a local resident of the concerned Gram Panchayat, her honorary (mandey) service is automatically treated as terminated. Candidates are required to give a self-declaration (affidavit) regarding this at the time of application.

Selection Process
- Selection will be carried out following the guidelines of the departmental circular dated 12.01.2023 and the amended guidelines dated 01.03.2024 and 01.10.2024, along with other circulars/standards issued by the department from time to time.
- The selection process is to be conducted through the medium of upcoming Gram Sabhas.
- Marks for educational qualification of Worker and Helper candidates will be determined as per the Directorate’s revised evaluation format (“Mulyankan Patra-B”) dated 01.10.2024.
- Where the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / minority population is 50% or more within the coverage area of an Anganwadi centre, selection for that post is mandatorily made from a woman of that respective category. Population figures are determined on the basis of the Anganwadi survey register.
